Tennessee Licensure Requirements

Speech/Language Pathologists (SLP)

School Speech/Language Pathologists (SSLP) are licensed as Professional School Service Personnel (PSSP). To meet the criteria for the PSSP license, an SLP must hold a master’s degree from a CAA-approved program including 400 clinical clock hours of practicum and a passing score of 600 on the PRAXIS examination #0330.

School Speech/Language Therapy Specialist (SSLTS)

School Speech/Language Therapy Specialists are eligible for a teacher license after completing a bachelor’s degree in Communication Science Disorders and 100 hours of practicum.

Audiologists

Audiologists who hold a valid license issued by Tennessee or an out-of-state licensing board of Communication Disorders and Sciences are licensed as Professional School Service Personnel (PSSP). Licensure requires the completion of a graduate degree in audiology from an ASHA accredited program and a passing score of 600 on the PRAXIS examination #0330.
